Habitat for Humanity
We helped the Baltimore Chapter of
this organization with the leveling of an abandoned lot to be
turned into a playground.
Langley Park Day (veiw

An all day fair geared towards the children of
Langley Park, mostly Latino children. We assisted in coordinating
and running games for the children such as relays, face painting,
etc. Garage Sale
Coordinated a yard sale with proceeds
to go partially towards our national philanthropy- Literacy.

Tabling at Latina/o Benvenida, which
was sponsored by La Unidad Latina/ Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity,
Inc- Phi Chapter here at UMCP. We gave out free copies of the
Anuario Hispano as well as CD-ROMS with financial aid information.

Latina Appreciation Day- Dia De La Mujer
Come celebrate and show appreciation for the Latina Woman through the arts. Poetry,
paintings, music, books and biographies by and about Latina Women will be on display.
Susan Santana, Exectutive Director of the Hispanic Heritage Awards Foundation will speak
on Latina acheivements that have gone unnoticed in our society.
The Spectrum of Feminism
Learn and share your ideas about what Feminism and Womens
Rights mean, depending on the different economic, cultural and racial backgrounds. Hether
Relihan of the Women's Studies Department will facilitate.
Standards of Beauty from across the Globe
co-sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Society imposes many Standards of Beauty on Women, but is it
different for each culture? Nancy O'Neill of the Career Center will moderate.
The Typical Latino
Not all Latinos have brown hair and brown eyes and are from
Mexico. Learn about and discuss the presence and experience of the non-"Typical"
Latino. The experiences of the Afro-Latinos, Asian-Latinos, and Jewish-Latinos will be
highlighted. Mark Brimhall-Vargas of the Office of Human Relations will moderate.
